Why not go out on a limb, that is where the fruit is

A La Carte Faith

It's like, when you go to a restaurant and they have the all-inclusive dinner. You get the soup, the salad, the main course, the drink and the dessert all for 1 low price. It's complete. That's what faith is like. I had A La Carte faith...I thought that I was the kind of believer that Christ wanted me to be. But after a horrendous fight with my husband, and lots of anger and blaming, my pastor revealed to me the root of our problem. He said that I wasn't trusting the Lord in all areas of my life. I would pick and choose the areas of my life that I wanted the Lord to be soverign over. Those other areas, like my anger, my jealousy, my power struggles with my husband, I made the choice to handle myself. But I didn't see it that way until he revealed this kind of A La Carte faith to me. He said, when you choose to stay mad, what you're basically doing is taking God's power over your life from Him. You pick and choose what you think He can't handle for you in His time and in His way. So, remember that if you pick and choose your areas of faith in God, if you purchase it separately, it's going to cost you more.

When we feel like everything is overwhelming us, we can't resort to "A La Carte Faith." We will be tried, tested, chastised and molded in our lives. God wants our complete trust so that He may lead us in the direction that He wants, not what we understand. In the end, it will stengthen you and be what is best for you and for those you care for. Ponder this thought for the day.
